Two miles from the town center, Soundview boasts a clean, remodeled interior in a quiet self-contained suite on a rocky beach overlooking the Sound and Coast Mountains.

We stayed at Soundview B&B in Petersburg. This cozy two bedroom getaway overlooks the stunning waters where whales sometimes surface. The views alone are worth the trip. What truly makes this stay unforgettable are the hosts. Scott and Bridge know Petersburg inside and out, from the best local hikes, blueberry picking, and where to find the freshest seafood in town.

Stunning mountain ranges, a chance to see whales and other wildlife, along with a gentle flow of icebergs recently calved from the nearby LeConte Glacier greet you at this welcoming and comfortable B&B. Your friendly and knowledgeable hosts can point you to your choice of gentle or strenuous hikes or invite you to visit downtown where you will feel the warmth of the Petersburg community. I have stayed at Sound View B&B in Petersburg several times, and every visit has been absolutely perfect. Bridget and Scott are truly exceptional hosts. They are warm, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable about Petersburg and the surrounding area, always happy to share recommendations and local insight that make the stay even more special.
The space itself is pristine—spotlessly clean, peaceful, and extremely comfortable. It’s clear they have thoughtfully considered every detail. The mattress and bedding are high quality and incredibly comfortable, making it easy to relax and sleep well after a long day. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you might need, and having access to a washer and dryer is such a convenient bonus.
The high-speed internet works flawlessly, which makes it perfect for both work and streaming. One of my absolute favorite parts of staying here is the view. The window overlooks the ocean, and on several occasions, I’ve watched whales playing right outside—it’s an unforgettable experience.
Sound View B&B is truly a gem in Petersburg. I would recommend it without hesitation to anyone visiting the area, and I always look forward to my next stay.

Scott and Bridget were incredibly communicative and friendly, making everything easy and welcoming from start to finish. The B&B is situated right on the water and gives you a lovely view of Frederick Sound and the wildlife there. We enjoyed many Alaskan activities such as hiking, fishing, whale watching, cycling, and the best spots for eating local food. We can't say enough good things about staying at the Sound View B & B! We definitely want to come back!

We have had the opportunity to stay several times at a marvelous B and B in the small town of Petersburg, Alaska. Located on Mitkof Island in Alaska’s Inside Passage, the house has an extraordinary view of the water, and of the mountain range beyond. The hosts, Scott and Bridget, could not have been more welcoming, and were able to give us great suggestions about all of the local activities, including scenic hikes, bike trails, fishing, and where to shop in the village.
We watched the spouting of whales from the comfort of our room, and viewed a variety of wildlife up close, including Bald Eagles and several deer, while enjoying a beverage on the expansive deck. Our room was especially comfortable, nicely appointed with a private entrance and ensuite bath. We cannot recommend the spot highly enough and look forward to another stay in the future.
